CREATIVE CUSTOM PICTURE FRAMING & DESIGN
When you frame with me, you know your project will be beautifully designed and impeccably crafted.
Custom Framing allows you to create an absolutely unique look for your art. My goal is to protect, preserve, and compliment your art so that your enjoyment of it will last a lifetime. I present you with the most creative framing options possible—from traditional to contemporary—always considering your preferences. My large selection of custom moulding samples, mat colors, and glazing choices provide endless possibilities.
Most importantly, I take the time to explain the different choices and help you explore possibilities that will enhance your art. I am an expert at framing design consultation, but I heartily encourage my clients to be part of the process–conferring together for as long as it takes to achieve the coveted: “That’s it!” moment. I take pride in producing the extraordinary museum quality final product people expect.

Moulding
Framing Arts has over 1500 mouldings from which to choose…from ultra modern to ultra traditional. With an extensive collection of color mouldings in different hues, widths and styles, I can create the perfect framing design that’s just right for your artwork.
Glazing
Glass: (glazing) options for your artwork. The choice of glazing depends on the degree of conservation desired. Conservation glass filters up to 98% of UV rays while maintaining clarity. Regular clear glass, non-glare and acrylic are also possibilities. Glazing (glass and acrylic) should never be in direct contact with the surface of the art. The airspace provided is preventative. During changes in temperature or humidity, moisture can condense on the glazing, causing mold or mildew to form.
Mat, Liner, Fillet
Mats: The choice of mat color is a very personal process, depending on what effect is desired…dark matting tends to envelope the artwork whereas light matting seems to allow the artwork to expand.
I have hundreds of mat colors from which to choose…smooth, patterned and embossed– all made of acid-free paper, linen, and suede.
Liners: A linen-covered moulding softens the transition between the moulding and the art. It lends a more traditional tone, being used most often with oil paintings; but, can be used for a great effect in the framing of many media.
Fillets: A fillet (fill-it) is a mini-moulding which sits snug against the matting to give an extra visual effect, or as an additional lip on a moulding. Used often with oils, acrylics and needlework.
Artwork
Check out my Past Project Showcase to see examples of my work. No matter what kind of art you bring me, I can create the perfect framing design for it.
Mounting Choice
Hinge Mount: Fine prints require archival quality hinges for attachment to the backing. The hinges do not mar the surface of the art and allows its natural expansion and contraction within the frame.
Pressure Mount: This is a process which affixes the art to a rigid mounting board. It is used for posters, newspaper articles and photographs.
Float Mount: The artwork is suspended within the window of a mat and the paper’s raw edges are visible. Also used for “gallery wrapped” canvases, which are stretched onto a stretcher bar. The frame is set away from the canvas allowing the edges of the canvas to be visible.
Fitting
The Grand Finale: To complete the “protect, preserve and display” package, your art is fitted with a backing board, sealed with a paper dust cover and a hanging wire. A courtesy hanger is provided for your convenience. Your newly framed artwork is dust-free, secure, and ready to hang!
Conservation Services….why?
Regular paper mats will slowly decompose your paper art and photos. This damaging process is called “foxing” which is a yellowing discoloration. The process cannot be reversed—but by refitting your art and photos with conservation materials, the damage can be slowed or even stopped. We use the best conservation materials on your artwork: acid-free matting, UV filtering glass, and proper preservation practices.
